Website redesign services: what should be included, and what it costs

A list to hold any quote against, our own prices as the worked example, and the one step that protects your rankings. Every figure here is on our pricing page.

A website redesign service should leave you with a site built for the phone first, the words rewritten, every old address forwarded so your Google rankings carry over, and the domain and files in your name at the end. At Droom that costs $999 one time for up to five pages, or $1,999 for up to fifteen, and goes live about three weeks after you approve the direction. Care, at $99 a month for hosting and small edits, is optional.

Why owners go looking for website redesign services

It usually starts with something small. The site looks wrong on your phone, or a customer mentions it, or you text the link to someone and it arrives as a bare address. It is a common position to be in. Of 467 business websites we found advertising on Google, scanned in October 2026, 72% showed at least one sign of dated technology. Every one of those businesses was paying for ads when we found it (that is how the list was built), so most of them were paying to send visitors to a page that showed its age somewhere.

The share moved from trade to trade:

  • Trades and home services: 81%
  • Clinics: 72%
  • Auto and marine: 71%
  • Professional services: 69%
  • Home improvement: 68%
  • Urgent services: 67%
  • Seniors and mobility: 65%
  • Aesthetic businesses: 61%

The signs themselves, and the ones you can check on your own phone in a few minutes, are in when to redesign a website. The full results are in what we found in 467 business websites. If you have already decided yours needs redoing, read on for what to ask for and what it costs.

What a website redesign service should include

Two redesign quotes are hard to compare when each one leaves out something different. Whoever you hire, ask whether these are in the price, and get the answer in writing:

  • A design drawn for your business, rather than a template with your logo dropped in.
  • The words rewritten for the new site. The old copy was written for a different page, and most owners would sooner not write their own.
  • The phone layout designed first, with a number that dials on tap and no sideways scrolling.
  • Your booking tool connected and tested, if you take bookings.
  • Your Google Business Profile set up and verified before launch, with the same name, address and phone number as the site.
  • Structured data in the pages and a plain-text summary at /llms.txt, so search engines and AI assistants can read who you are and what you do.
  • A list of every old address and where it goes on the new site, with a permanent redirect on each one.
  • A stated number of revision rounds.
  • The domain, the files and every account in your name at the end.

On a Droom website every item on that list is in the one-time price. That price covers design, build, writing, images, the phone layout, Google Business Profile setup, two revision rounds and launch, with no discovery fee in front of it.

What a small business website redesign costs at Droom

The price is set by the number of pages, plus any system you add on top:

  • Up to five pages, $999 one time. Home, services, about and contact.
  • Up to fifteen pages, $1,999 one time. Room for service, neighbourhood and FAQ pages, each able to rank on its own.
  • Past fifteen pages, or a site that has to talk to software you already run, is quoted in writing before anything starts. There is no published figure for it.
  • A shop with products, cart, checkout, tax and shipping, up to thirty products, adds $2,400.
  • Prices, a menu or opening hours you change yourself by editing a spreadsheet adds $1,800.

Booking is included at either size. A ten-page site with a shop is $1,999 plus $2,400.

After launch, Care is $99 a month for hosting, daily backups, security patches and two small edits a month, each back within 48 hours. You do not have to take it. If you do, it runs three months minimum and then 30 days notice.

Three things sit outside the price: the domain registration (in your name, so you own it), paid stock photos or licensed fonts if you want them, and any booking or payment software you choose and pay for directly. GST is added where it applies. You can pay half to start and half at launch. Every figure is on the pricing page.

Website redesign SEO: keeping the rankings you already have

Most of the traffic a redesign loses goes out through old addresses that stop working. Search engines send people to single pages, not to a whole site, so each page on the old site needs either the same address on the new one or a permanent forward to its closest match. Sending everything to the home page throws most of that away.

Two more habits protect you. Keep the same domain if you possibly can, because a new one turns the forwarding into the whole job. And keep your business name, address and phone number word for word the same on every page and on your Google Business Profile, since a rebuild tends to reword them without anyone deciding to.

On a Droom rebuild the list of old addresses is written before design starts, and the redirects go live with the site. The full order of work, with what to check in Google Search Console afterwards, is in how to move a website without losing your rankings.

How a redesign with Droom runs

It starts with the free Field Test: your current site used the way a customer uses it, the failures recorded on video, and a fixed price to rebuild. That price comes in writing before anything starts, and it is the price you pay. Most rebuilds keep your content and replace everything around it.

From the day you approve the direction it takes about three weeks. Week one is structure and copy, week two is design and build, and week three is your revisions, Google setup and launch. When a build stalls it is nearly always waiting on photos, the service list, or a decision about what the business is called now, so having those ready speeds it up.

One person designs it, writes it, builds it and runs it. A site you bought is yours from launch, with the files and the domain, and the handover is free if you ever move it to another host. Owning the files is worth checking with anyone you hire.

Droom is the wrong fit if you need fifty pages, a custom web app, weekly stand-ups or someone in your office on Thursdays. An agency suits that better, and we will tell you so.

Questions people ask before they hire

How much does a website redesign cost?

At Droom, $999 one time for up to five pages and $1,999 for up to fifteen. Bigger sites, and sites that connect to software you already run, are quoted in writing with no published figure. A shop adds $2,400. Care at $99 a month is optional.

How long does a website redesign take?

About three weeks from the day you approve the direction. Photos and the service list are what usually hold a build up, so having them ready helps.

Will a website redesign hurt my SEO?

It does not have to. Keep the same domain, give every old address a permanent redirect to its closest new page, keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere, and submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console on launch day.

Can I see a website redesign before and after?

We do not publish before and after pictures of real businesses. The website service page has a slider comparing a typical dated homepage with a rebuilt layout, as an illustration, and our demo sites are concept builds labelled as such. For your own site, the free Field Test records the before on video.

Do I have to pay every month after a redesign?

No. The build is one payment and the site is yours from launch. Care at $99 a month is there if you want hosting and edits looked after, and the handover is free if you take the site elsewhere.

Want a fixed price for your redesign?

The free Field Test uses your current site the way a customer would, shows what fails on video and comes back with a fixed rebuild price. No meeting.

The free Field Test: your site tested the way a customer uses it, results in seconds and a fixed price by email. No call.
